A sailor at heart

My Story

Simon Lloyd-Parker is an avid sailor and has been since his youth in South Africa. His enthusiasm in sailing has brought him to the waters of the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean; sailing from Australia, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Hawaii to the Caribbean.

Simon’s  love and passion for sailing naturally led him to work in the boating industry. He started his career as a professional boat builder and marine surveyor. He delivered Beneteau 42 sailboats around the Greek Islands for Nava Yacht Charters. In Corfu he worked as a fleet manager for Odisios Yachting Holidays, oversaw 17 staff members and was responsible for 42 yachts.

In 2001 Simon was part of the team who built the E-Ten Series Catamaran for E-Multihulls, a prototype for the now well known Fusion 40 Kitset Catamarans.

Having enjoyed many sailboats over the years, Simon designed and built 2 of his personal yachts; a 42 foot catamaran he named Wanderobo and a 28 foot double ended cutter he named Molly. He built both sailboats using plywood and epoxy construction.

Simon opened his own business in 1999, Ship Shape Marine Repairs and Surveys. The Survey side of the business became so successful he decided to separate it and name it “Marine Surveyors Australia”.

Simon is a fully accredited Class 1/A marine surveyor.
He is a member of the Marine Surveyors Association. He was elected treasurer of the association in 2012 and currently holds the position.
